Plan by boxes, not only individual tiles
Retail packaging can make box coverage more useful than tile count.
Use stated box coverage
If the packaging gives area per box, use that directly for purchasing.
Keep spare material visible
Extra unopened or spare tiles can be useful for future repairs, but that is a separate planning choice.
Do not mix units
Avoid combining square feet and square metres in one calculation.
