Measure a surface for tiling
Break irregular surfaces into simple shapes before adding them together.
Rectangles first
Measure each rectangular section separately and add the areas.
Subtract only when appropriate
Large permanently untiled openings can be removed from the total; small cutouts may not materially reduce tile demand.
Keep one unit system
Use metres for surface dimensions and convert tile dimensions consistently.
